In recent years the bolt rig has accounted for a large number of specimen fish and has become the most popular and safe carp rig in use. It is constructed of a heavy lead attached to the safety lead clip which is pushed onto size 8 swivel tied to the mainline. The idea is that the lead can be pulled off of the clip if it gets snagged up leaving the clip and the mainline free. The tail rubber holds the lead in place on the arm of the clip. In case of a bite once carp starts to run with bait the weight resistance on the line will result in instant hook-set.
